Once upon a time skateboarding street courses used to look like this:

It was big and it was fast. You either land the trick or you eat shit.

Now we have courses that are much smaller and slow. Skate has envolved to a brand new philosophy that you doesn’t have to go huge or fast, but instead you have go tech as shit to be able to win on street. That’s a street league concept that took over skateboarding and favors robot style skaters like Nyjah Huston and Shane O'Neill:

With all of that we probably won’t see many overall skateboarders having sucess on street, like Danny Way did in the 90s (well, maybe a skater or two like Curren Caples or Evan Smith could prove me wrong). One thing for sure though, you will not see many runs like Tony Trujillo’s in Tampa 2003:
